ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip – More Better

IMG_3925

I purchased this product, 100% honest review.

So I am loving this matte lip trend and it’s been so hard for me to avoid it considering I have chronic peel-y lips.  I heard a few good things on the web here and there about this ColourPop brand and gave it a shot. I have already shown you Beeper and here is another winner.

The  color More Better according to ColourPop is a deep velvet wine.

The color didn’t stick as well as the other I found a spot in the middle of my mouth fading after a few meetings. Of course I didn’t take it with me to work so I removed it altogether after a few hours. But I love the color and need to try again but next time I will use a lip primer.

Perhaps because I didn’t follow these application suggestions from the brand is why I was not entirely “matteified”.  Yep, I just made up a word.

Step 1: Make sure your lips are bare and dry! Step 2: Apply matching lip pencil for a precise and perfected application. Step 3: Apply Ultra Matte Lip with the applicator or your favorite lip brush. **For smoothest finish always exfoliate your lips first! This thin and lightweight formula glides onto the lips smoothly and leaves SUPER intense pigment-rich colour with a bold, ultra matte look. It’s very long wearing and completely kiss proof! We suggest storing these babies upright and shaking before application!

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip – Beeper

Purchased this product, 100% honest review.

I’ve been dying to try this matte lip trend and it’s been so hard for me not to considering I have chronic peel-y lips.  I heard a few good things on the web here and there about this ColourPop brand and gave it a shot.

The package of mini lippies was almost too cute to handle.  The colors looked even better in person than they did online.  I payed about $30 for the set of five colors and they arrived quickly.

It was a must for me to try Beeper first.  A rusty, neutral brown with barely any pink which was exactly what I wanted.  I lined my lips with my Nyx lip primer then carefully dabbed on my color from the sponge tip applicator.  There was no scent, which is perfect.  The color was true to the tube, which was perfect.  It didn’t instantly dry out my lips which was fantastic.  Six hours later by lunch time I still had the same color and my lips weren’t feeling off.  It was some kind of make-up miracle.

Now it is time to experiment with the others – yippee!!

Photos & product review: Hard Candy Velvet Mousse lip color (Dahlia)

This is a review of Hard Candy’s Velvet Mousse lip color in the shade: Dahlia

This product was received as a courtesy from the brand/PR representative for 100% honest review

My heart rate raised as soon as I saw the pretty little box (that doubles as an application mirror, by the way).  The shade Dahlia was exactly what I’d been dreaming about.  A dark lip that reminds me of Chanel’s Vamp nail polish.  And there it was sitting right in front of me.

To prep my lips for this I applied my NYX lip primer.  Then I carefully dabbed on the color with the sponge tip applicator.  I’m not sure if it was the primer or my application method, but it didn’t result in feathering or color everywhere that would be difficult to remove.

The color itself was stunning.  It made me feel really put together and kind of effortless since I went with a basic face otherwise as far as make-up goes.  It lasted almost all day at the edges of my lips with only the center fading and drying a bit.  After six hours it still looked really good which impressed me.

There are two more colors received that are also very pretty.  Full reviews to come soon on those!

Product review: NYX lip primer & matte lipstick

For Valentine’s I got one of the best gifts ever… a trip to Ulta for a haul.  I ended up putting a NYX lip primer and matte lipstick in my bag as I wandered around in circles.  To me, I was hoping this combination would be the end to my woes; as every time I try any lip color lately I end up with incredibly dry and peeling lips.

The primer itself applies like a clear, soft lip pencil.  The lipstick glided over the top of that without any overly drying feel but did appear matte on my lips which was exactly what I was going for.  It only lasted a few hours and then I had to re-apply.

The color on the lipstick is a mix of nude/brown/red – which I love.  It is color S19.  I’m very curious to get more colors of this.  But I think instead I will try another NYX long(er) *hopefully* lasting lip color.  Both products cost less than $12 pre-tax, so it was no loss at all to me since both will continue to be used.  After three days of use, I haven’t had the obnoxious peel as I normally would so overall I’m pleased!

Avon Ultra Color Lip Crayon review and photos

avon lip crayon

I have to say, that I am not the neatest lip product applier.  I usually have a hard time staying in the lines because lipstick is too clunky and lip liners are too thin and require concentration.  With lip gloss I usually end up with excess product.  With this lip crayon it was kind of the Goldilocks’s perfect find for me lately.

Not only is it easy to apply, but gives off a nice natural color (if that is a shade you choose) and it is affordable at only $8.

There are ten color options from nudes to pinks to a plum that is coming soon.

It is infused with Vitamin E and Shea Butter to keep lips moisturized.
