Photos & product review: Hard Candy Velvet Mousse lip color (Dahlia)

This is a review of Hard Candy’s Velvet Mousse lip color in the shade: Dahlia

This product was received as a courtesy from the brand/PR representative for 100% honest review

My heart rate raised as soon as I saw the pretty little box (that doubles as an application mirror, by the way).  The shade Dahlia was exactly what I’d been dreaming about.  A dark lip that reminds me of Chanel’s Vamp nail polish.  And there it was sitting right in front of me.

To prep my lips for this I applied my NYX lip primer.  Then I carefully dabbed on the color with the sponge tip applicator.  I’m not sure if it was the primer or my application method, but it didn’t result in feathering or color everywhere that would be difficult to remove.

The color itself was stunning.  It made me feel really put together and kind of effortless since I went with a basic face otherwise as far as make-up goes.  It lasted almost all day at the edges of my lips with only the center fading and drying a bit.  After six hours it still looked really good which impressed me.

There are two more colors received that are also very pretty.  Full reviews to come soon on those!

RAMY Orange Lip Oil Review

ramy

RAMY Lip Oils; $18; http://www.ramy.com

Oils specifically designed to nourish and deep condition parched lips. Jojoba and almond oil moisturize and calm lips, while marine spheres with collagen gently plump. Available in 3 flavors – Mint, Orange and Rose. Great for adding a sleek sheen to lips to finish the look.

I’ve got to say, that I’ve never used anything quite like this on my lips.  It was completely slick on my lips, literally like oil.  With a scent and taste of orange it was pretty hard not to lick my lips.  I’ve got a really bad habit of that anyways.  So as I wore it I consciously didn’t lick my lips but I did keep rubbing my lips together because it felt like a slip-n-slide of orange goodness.  I didn’t experience any stinging which concerned me when I read that this product would slightly plump my lips.  Overall I think it is a neat product if you’re really looking for something different.

Almay liquid lip balm review

Thanks to my Klout perks I received a new Almay liquid lip balm.  Being the dedicated beauty blogger that I am, here is my review!

almay

The color I received is called “Blooming” in the sleek packaging the color appeared to be a bit more of a pop of pink, however on the lip it was quite sheer.  Not sure what I expected since it is a balm not a full coverage color.  I bite my lips, that is obvious from the photo.  So for this particular color you’re going to see those right through the balm.  However texturally it was pleasant with no strange odors.  It felt moisturizing, but needed to re-apply several times through the day.  Overall it was an OK product.  Probably a safe one to keep in my handbag or drawer at work to use in a pinch if needed.

They are available in drug and super stores for around $5 / each.

PeaceKeeper ‘Eco-Sheer’ Natural Lip Gloss photos and review

The more and more I learn about new products, the more and more I am in awe and in love with brands that not only embrace a nature / nurture mentality, but also a charitable one.

Today’s brand is PeaceKeeper, and the product is UNIFEM which is a tinted, natural lip gloss with a subtle sheerness to it.

Classic, sophisticated sheer burgundy.  Looks great on everybody (we kid you not, we took this gloss around the whole United Nations and it was absolutely stunning on EVERYBODY) and makes the perfect accent when applied over any lipstick color.

Proceeds from the sale of this gloss will be donated to the United Nation’s Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), which supports programs around the world to end violence against women. For more information, visit http://www.unifem.org/.

PeaceKeeper prides itself on its slogan “No Nasty Anything!” for a reason:  they’re dedicated to creating cosmetics using non-toxic ingredients that will keep your body safe and healthy.  All of our products are acetone-, paraben-, phthalates-, and gluten-free, and they carry vegan-friendly products too (check out their line of Vegan Nail Paints!).

These are $10 each but not only are you contributing to a great cause, you have natural cosmetic ingredients that are safe for you to wear.

I love this color, and it comes in 7 colors total.
